Maybe I am on my own here, but I was expecting more from this immersive exhibition.

I was lucky enough to have a mini-break to York and Manchester with my boyfriend and had secured a place for this exhibition. I was excited and had foolishly looked at the London and International Van Gogh exhibitions and had a preconceived idea in my head. I expected large LED screens and hi-tech moving images, and what I saw was a disappointment.

On entering, we were pointed towards a curtain and asked to sit down wherever there was a space available.

Through the poorly pinned up curtains (which looked like something my Nan would have done), the exhibition was playing on a loop, and we were inside of a small church populated with several deck chairs and mismatched sofas. It wasn't easy to get our bearings at first, but we sat down at available vacant seats and began to watch, excited for the show to start.

I soon realised that although the projections were beautiful and tailored to the architecture of the church (360 degrees ), we were not going to be immersed in a high tech experience at all. However, the music that played was calming, and there were quotes from Van Gogh around the walls.

We watched the whole presentation, and my partner and I were disappointed with both the expensive and content. What I saw were projected images in a church that seemed unprofessional and frankly shabby. The ceiling wasn't covered either and was distracting, possibly too much to ask my Nan to get curtains or sheets to that height?

When we left the exhibition (through even more of my Nan's make do curtains), we were greeted with 'colour your own Van Gogh picture' with broken and crumbled crayons (at an extra cost) or a 3D virtual reality headset experience again at an additional cost. Eventually, we were excited through the gift shop!

The below photographs are some of the better parts of the projections and scenes displayed.

Give my boyfriend and one week, a few deck chairs, a church, a sound system and several projectors, and I can guarantee a similar experience.

Not impressed at all. What a shame.
